What is CBD oil?
Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the most important cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Sativa plant or also called industrial hemp. From which a non-psychoactive type of oil is obtained, legal in Spain and other countries and with studies that report several benefits for our health. Unlike the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) found in marijuana, the cannabidiol in hemp has no psychoactive effects.
Although CBD was discovered and isolated as one of the main components of marijuana in the middle of the 20th century, in recent decades, due to the scientific interest in the substance and the decrease in the stigmatization of marijuana. Currently there are cannabis strains with high CBD content and little or no THC.
The growing popularity of CBD oil is due to the increased interest of scientists on the subject since the World Health Organization, in 2017, declared that cannabidiol does not generate any type of addiction and that it does not produce harmful effects on the Health. Also adding that the data they have obtained reveal that it could have therapeutic value in epileptic seizures and related diseases.
Cannabidiol activates the responses of the body's nervous system, through the well-known endocannabinoid system (SEC) typical of humans and animals, consisting of neurotransmitter substances such as serotonin or anandamide, which makes it interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors involved in a wide variety of physiological processes, providing therapeutic results and strengthening the immune system.
Our body is capable of synthesizing its own endocannabinoids, which are very similar to those produced by the Cannabis Sativa L plant, both in structure and in function.
CB1 receptors for SEC are found most abundantly in the brain, heart, lungs, muscles, vascular system, reproductive organs, and intestines.
The CB2 receptors for SEC are found, where appropriate, in bone, skin, spleen, and in microglial cells.
For all these reasons, CBD is capable of regulating a great variety of processes and body systems with the same naturalness as a substance secreted by the body itself, regulating a great variety of functions such as appetite, sleep cycles, inflammation, pain and immune response.
